"You weren't that way when I married you." Source? (Sounds like grouse.) These comments are reminiscent of an Italian proverb: Little children, headache; big children, heartache.
Everyone can relate to being hurt by relatives. Teens can say hurtful things. So do big kids (those big kids with mortgages and mini vans). They can relate to a Twitter posting from a few months back: "Question: Do you speak to your spouse with the same respect you speak to a stranger?" This retweeted like wildfire. It struck a nerve because it hit close to home. And if home is indeed where the heart is, then communicating with respect, no matter what state your bank account or hormones are in, is a good place to start.
