Cut Out Your Happy New Year

by Vince Poscente

Here’s a quick eBrief on creating the 2009 you want.

The idea might sound a little goofy and foofy but it works time and again.

Create a picture collage of what you desire in 2009.

Grab a pair of scissors, a glue stick, poster board, a stack of magazines and cut out images that represent what you want to create in your life. Pick out pictures that relate to family, friends, finance, romance, spiritual, physical and travel. Assemble them on your poster board and put it in your closet for double daily viewing.

This idea came to mind when I called my long-time friend Mara. I caught her in the midst of some alone time where she was doing her 2009 collage. She’s done one every December for over 15 years. She told me a story about one collage where she cut out pictures of far away places.

Even though money was tight that year she added travel to her visual goals. One of the images was a unique fountain at a tropical resort.

A few days later a friend called up and said, “Hey Mara. I won a three-week, three-island holiday in Hawaii. Do you want to go with me?”

A couple weeks later they arrived late at night at the Grand Wailea Resort on Maui. The next morning she opened the curtains and there was the fountain and pools she had cut out for her collage.

Her smile said it all.

There are approximately 10 billion active neurons in your brain. The mere activity of looking for images that make you feel good activate these neurons. Cutting them out, looking for the proper placement and how they relate to the other images you cut out further impact your psyche. The overall collage and how it resonates with your core translate into an imprint on billions of neurons in a purely unconscious and profound way.

As you nurse a hangover and/or look at January 1st, 2009 with renewed optimism, take a couple of hours and invest in creating what you want in the next 12 months.

You will amaze yourself.

Until next week, it’s full speed ahead,
